Anthony Bourdain in trailer for show’s final season: ‘I pinch myself’

The final season of the Anthony Bourdain show “Parts Unknown” is set to premiere Sunday on CNN, and, in a trailer released this week, the late host is heard saying that, after the cameras are off and he and the crew are unwinding over drinks, he would at times pinch himself, asking:

W. Kamau Bell, the standup comic and television personality, describes in the trailer playing sidekick to Bourdain for the final season’s Kenya episode as chiefly an exercise in trying not to “screw up his show.” To “everybody who had dreams of traveling with Tony,” Bell says this: “It’s exactly as cool as you think it is.”

The former New York chef, who achieved fame with his 2000 book “Kitchen Confidential” and spent the nearly two subsequent decades creating food and travel documentary programming that Bell characterizes in the show trailer as some of the smartest and most compelling in all of TV history, died of suicide in June. He was 61. “Parts Unknown” has run on CNNT, +1.02%for a dozen seasons.
