Walmart Inc. WMT, +0.21% said Wednesday that it has partnered with Kobo to launch Walmart eBooks, a catalog of digital books available both in stores and online. The offering includes access to Kobo’s library of six million books, a monthly audio subscription for $9.99 each month, and access to a variety of Kobo e-readers, which will be available online. The Kobo Aura will sell at 1,000 stores later this week. Both Android and iOS apps will launch on Wednesday. First-time customers who sign up online will get $10 off their first e-book or audiobook. And those who sign up for an audiobook subscription will get a 30-day free trial. Walmart shares are down 2.3% for the year to date, but have gained 9.6% over the past month. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.06% is up 4.4% for 2018 so far.
