Chocolate fans rejoice!
Confectionery giant Mars has announced it is bringing a new Malteser Biscuit to the UK.
The new biscuit treat is made up of 'malty bobbles', filled with honeycomb and covered in milk chocolate and features the tagline ‘snap ‘em, crunch ‘em, love ‘em’ on its packaging.
The new chocolate biscuit bars are set to go on sale at Asda later this month, followed by Sainsbury's and Tesco in March and will cost £1.49 for a 110g bar.
The move to create a new twist on the much-loved chocolate follows Mars' creation of biscuit versions of other favourites like Galaxy, Mars and Bounty Soft Centres, which all launched last summer.
The bars will be manufactured by Burton's Biscuit Company who also worked on Mars' previous biscuit product launches.
Speaking to trade magazine The Grocer , Mars Chocolate Drinks & Treats general manager Michelle Frost said that a "combination of the innovative format, unique malty taste and the popularity of the brand" would "drive new customers into the category".
With Malteser now the second bestselling chocolate in the UK, we're sure the Malteser Biscuits will be a hit as soon as they arrive on supermarket shelves.
But Mars is not the only brand that is shaking up the snack market. British crisp manufacturer Walkers recently reintroduced two iconic flavours of Wotsit crisps to the market .
The new and improved ‘BBQ’ and ‘Flamin’ Hot’ flavours are now on sale in all major supermarket chains and both multi-pack versions are under 90 calories.
