The benchmark Sensex crossed the 37,000-mark for the first time ever during the morning trading session on Thursday.
The 30-share index touched a high of 37,014.65 gaining 156 points over previous day’s close during the first hour of the trading session.
At 11a.m., the Sensex was trading at 37,011.64, up 153.41 points. Overall, nearly 1,300 stocks were up on BSE, as against 794 in the red.
The broader Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was up 45.90 points at 11,177.90.
