Speaking to TalkRADIO, Mr Fox confirmed Brexiteer and former Conservative donor Jeremy Hosking has donated his new party a whopping £5million. He said: “That’s true. We are fully funded up to the next general election.” Asked whether big profile politicians such as Nigel Farage will be part of his project, he said: “I think Nigel Farage has made some amazing contributions to British politics but he’s not involved.

“You’ll see when we officially launch the quality of the wonderful people we’ll be rolling out to give people an opportunity to vote for.”

Pressed on whether his party will simply split the Tory vote and cause Labour lefties he so adamantly wishes to defy to actually get in power, he said: “I don’t believe we are right or left. I think these issues are bipartisan.

“It’s more of a question of whether you’re authoritarian or anti-authoritarian.

“I certainly think Keir Starmer shot himself in the foot because he’s a huge drunk on Kool-Aid of the critical race theory, so Labour are going to be very difficult party to elect I think, until they take a long hard look at what critical race theory is trying to do to western democracies, which is to destroy it and tear it apart.”

Mr Fox said the new party aims to represent citizens who are “tired of being told that we represent the very thing we have, in history, stood together against”.

He is looking to introduce candidates at the next general election.

The new party has been called “Reclaim” for the time being and could start operating as soon as next month.

But the name “Reclaim” will have to be ratified by the Electoral Commission beforehand.

In a statement to The Telegraph, Mr Fox said: “Over many years it has become clear that our politicians have lost touch with the people they represent and govern.

“Moreover, our public institutions now work to an agenda beyond their main purpose.

“Our modern United Kingdom was borne out of the respectful inclusion of so many individual voices.

“It is steeped in the innate values of families and communities, diverse in the truest sense but united in the want and need to call this island home.

“The people of the United Kingdom are tired of being told that we represent the very thing we have, in history, stood together against.

“We are all privileged to be the custodians of our shared heritage.

“We can reclaim a respectful nation where all are included and none are ashamed to have somewhere to call home.

“I have been so encouraged by the support I have received by those wishing to add their voices to this reclamation of our values.

“Our country is now in desperate need of a new political movement which promises to make our future a shared endeavour, not a divisive one. This is now my endeavour.”

One Westminster source likened Mr Fox’s proposed party to the UK Independence Party.

The insider said: “This is basically a Ukip for culture and is exactly what the Tory party should be frightened about.”
