Nicola Sturgeon accused of using virus politically by Miklinski
Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson took aim at First Minister Nicola Sturgeon for the speed of their covid vaccine rollout. During First Minister’s Questions, Ms Davidson insisted Scotland was moving slower than the rest of the country and there was no excuse for this. She added that GPs were frustrated they were not getting vaccine doses quickly enough to vaccinate those in communities around the country.
Ms Sturgeon argued back that she would not apologise for prioritising care homes first in the vaccine rollout and added she was hopeful the vaccine programme would now be able to vaccinate communities faster as the large majority of care homes have been vaccinated.
Ms Davidson said: “GPs are right, vaccinating in care homes and vaccinating in care homes are two different systems.
“We are able to do both quickly and at the same time, so there is no excuse for falling behind.
“The SNP has fallen behind no matter how much the First Minister protests.

“We have shifted targets, we are behind the rest of the UK and on Sunday vaccinations hit the lowest number yet.”
Ms Davidson then highlighted what GPs are calling for to ensure more people can be vaccinated in Scotland.
She said: “If the problem isn’t prioritising care homes, let us look at what it really is.
“GPs have been shouting about it for weeks, they need the vaccine to be delivered to their surgeries more quickly.
“The Scottish Government can call up deliveries overnight from the distribution centres but are only sending out weekly deliveries to GPs.
“The head of GPs at BMA Scotland has asked if family doctors can be allowed to order stocks directly in order to speed up this process, will the First Minister let them?”
