Dominic Raab: Sam Coates on PM's difficult judgements
Oliver Dowden has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister to replace Dominic Raab.
The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, who has been an MP since 2015, is a close ally of Rishi Sunak.
Meanwhile, Alex Chalk has been announced as the new Justice Secretary.
Mr Chalk, another longstanding ally of the Prime Minister, is a current junior defence minister and has been an MP since 2015.
The mini-reshuffle comes hours after Mr Raab resigned from his dual roles this morning after an inquiry by Adam Tolley KC found he acted in an intimidating and aggressive way with officials in behaviour that could have amounted to bullying.
Mr Raab went down swinging criticising the “Kafkaesque saga” and accusing officials of trying to force him out of the Cabinet.
