Sky News: Greenpeace protest at Rishi Sunak’s home
A furious Home Secretary Suella Braverman has hit out at Labour and the party’s leader Sir Keir Starmer for “legitimising” eco-extremists by taking money from Just Stop Oil’s main financial backer.
Ms Braverman’s comments came after a major security breach at the Prime Minister’s home in Yorkshire when Greenpeace protesters got in to protest against drilling for more oil and gas.
While Labour had condemned the invasion of Mr Sunak’s home, Ms Braverman took to Twitter to argue that they were actually indirectly responsible for the attack.
She said: “Labour can’t say the PM’s house shouldn’t be targeted in any circumstance. Ridiculous to caveat their remarks in this way.
“Reality is Labour opposed our new laws to curb disruptive protest tactics. And they accepted £1.5million from Just Stop Oil’s backer.”

She added: “They have legitimised outrageous behaviour. Sir Keir Starmer should take responsibility and apologise.”
The security breach at the Prime Minister’s home has sent shockwaves among MPs.
Labour MP Sir Christopher Bryant Tweeted: “Targeting someone’s family home because you disagree with their politics is completely unacceptable.
“It’s also shocking that such a security breach could happen at the prime minister’s, or for that matter, any MP’s home.”
Questions are being asked over how police failed to stop the protesters from entering the Prime Minister’s property.

Former Home Secretary Priti Patel said: “I think it would be sensible for the Home Sec to review what has happened, the operational security breach, vulnerabilities to the pms residence and the police response.”
A senior Tory backbencher added: “There’s been a serious security lapse for those guys to attack the PM’s home in the way they have.
“The Home Secretary is the minister responsible for the protection of senior political figures and royalty and there’s been a failure here.
“Under no circumstances should something like this happen.”
